Evaluation -Question 3
The first institution I looked at was Bauer Media, who already own two music magazines. They are one fo the largest media producers in the UK, reaching around 22 million people each week. One of the magazine they own is Mojo magazine, which focuses on rising stars and is aimed at males. Another of the magazines they own is Q magazine, which is of a pop rock genre and is aimed at both genders. This means they would not also produce my magazine as it is of a similar genre of rock with some rock pop.
The second institution I looked at was TeamRock.com, who have four magazines. The first magazine they publish is the Blues magazine, which has a genre of blues rock. It sells bi-monthly with a mix of older and more modern blues artists, and it has its own Facebook page, showing it is aimed at a younger audience of young adults. The second magazine they publish is Classic Rock, which has a genre of classic rock. It is one of the UK's best selling music magazines, containing older artists which may cause a split audience due to this and the fact the magazine also has a lot of social media links. The third magazine they publish is Metal Hammer, which has a genre of heavy metal. It sells monthly with both main stream and more unusual metal artists. It has its own app, as well as a website. The fourth magazine they publish is Prog, which has a genre of progressive rock. It sells every five weeks and has its own Twitter and Facebook page.
TeamRock.com are also global, with a base in the UK. This is good as it means my magazine would be able to reach a wider audience.
All of their magazines have a clearer front cover with a large masthead, so my magazine would fit in wiht their style, as well as being a genre they do not currently have. My magazine also has lots of social media links, which will bring in a younger audience, who are the target audience for TeamRock.com. Therefore TeamRock.com will be the producers of my magazine.
